England Statistics

 

The last estimate of the population size of England was taken in March 2011, and published in December 2012 by UK’s Office of National statistics. This estimate showed: 56,100,000 people living in England.

The Office for National Statistics released statistics for the birth rates in England and Wales in July 2014, current birth rate: 724,000.

The latest statistics for infant mortality rate were recorded throughout 2011 and released by the Office for national statistics. The mortality rate throughout England and Wales was per 1,000 live births 4.2 infant deaths occurred.

Death rates (published by OFNS) which were registered throughout England and Wales were released 2012. The registered deaths: 499,331.

Part of the 2011 census looked into Religion in England and Wales (published by OFNS). The largest religious group being Christianity with 33.2 million and the second largest group with 2.7 millions were Muslims. When this census was taken this question was voluntary.

Throughout January 2012, there was 8.2 millions children attending 24,372 schools in England. These schools include: nursery schools state funded schools (primary and secondary), special schools, pupil referral units and independent schools. The department of education released this data.

The revenue department expenditure set a budget for 2013-14 of 315.9 billion for our education system. The government only plans for expenditure for the revenue department, 2014-15,317.0 billion.

Throughout England state schools the spend-per-head of children in education are: £6,200,this excludes London £6,007 (Period this information covered 2009-2010).

China Statistics

 

Since 1998, China has invested in “a massive expansion of education, nearly tripling the share of GDP devoted to it. In the decade since, the number of colleges in China has doubled and the number of students quintupled, going from 1 million in 1997 to 5.5 million in 2007.”

 

Population Size: 1,355,692,576 (July 2014 est.)

 

Birth Rate: 12.17 births/1,000 population (2014 est.)

 

Infant Mortality Rates: 11/1,000 population

 

Death Rates: 7.44 deaths/1,000 population (2014 est.)

 

Religion: Buddhist 18.2%, Christian 5.1%, Muslim 1.8%, folk religion 21.9%, Hindu < .1%, Jewish < .1%, other 0.7% (includes Daoist (Taoist)), unaffiliated 52.2%

 

Number of children in school: Elementary school and junior secondary school 99.5% and 98.5% respectively.

 

Government Budget for Education: 1.9% of GDP

 

Ratio of girls to boys in primary and secondary education: 101%

 

Literacy rates: male: 97.5% female: 92.7% (2010 est.)

 

Life expectancy: male: 73.09 years female: 77.43 years (2014 est.)
