Comparisons of Education in China and England

This website aims to provide a general overview of information regarding the education system in China, comparing it to our education system here in England.

As part of our assignment at the University of Hertfordshire we had to choose a country, research into their education system and then compare it to our education system here in England- putting all of our research into a website which we created. As a group, we had decided to research into education in China as we felt it was a country in which provided us with many points to research. It is a country with an education system so unlike ours it fascinated us from the start.

Chinas education system mainly revolves around rote learning, regular exams and long days, coincidently causing an extreme amount of pressure for the children who face this routine since starting school at the age of 7. In comparison, in England we are used to having a somewhat practical curriculum, embracing individual learning styles with a variety of subjects but start school earlier at the age of 4 or 5. In England, Children also have the option to take on extra curricular activities, which are seen as a fun way of learning new skills, whereas in China these activities are compulsory so can be deemed as the opposite.

We have aimed to cover a variety of areas on our website which will in turn, provide a range of knowledge to our readers. Some of the areas which you can find on our website is a comparison and analysis of Primary education, the school starting age, schooling hours, the pressure students face, and more. We have written these pieces using a range of sources which we have deemed to be valuable, reliable, and then referenced correctly for future reference.
